The Hesston Swathers will face off against the Inman Teutons at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Hesston has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Inman will arrive with six straight victories.
Hesston is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Kansas' top teams: Haven, who was ranked third at the time (Hesston was ranked 25th). The Swathers took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats on Friday.
Hesston saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elyse Griffin, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, Inman hadn't done well against Remington recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Teutons' pitcher stepped up to hand the Broncos an 8-0 shutout. The Teutons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 17 games by seven runs or more this season.
The result came thanks to Alexis Noone's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Maddi Parsons, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one triple the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ellie Thimmesch, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Inman was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Remington only posted a batting average of .250.
Inman's win bumped their record up to 20-1. As for Hesston, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Hesston has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Inman struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
