If the Fremont Tigers were riding high off their 67-33 takedown of the Grand Island Islanders last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Fremont was outmatched by Columbus at home and fell 61-29. Fremont was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-18.
Despite the loss, Fremont still got an impressive performance from Jenna Mcclain, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds. Mcclain scored a full 51.7% of Fremont's points, the eighth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Matthea Dalton, who scored five points along with 11 rebounds.
Fremont struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Fremont's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Columbus, their victory ended a eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-5.
Fremont will be playing at home against Lincoln East at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday. Lincoln East is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Columbus, they will head out on the road to face off against Pius X at 2:45 p.m. on Saturday.
