Hazlehurst and Callaway take on one another this Friday at 7:00 PM on Hazlehurst's home turf. Hazlehurst is coming into the game hot, having won three in a row.
Hazlehurst didn't have too much trouble with Crystal Springs in its last game, where Hazlehurst won 30 - 12. Senior running back Tim Steward was a defensive powerhouse in the win and ended up with 16 total tackles. Steward has been a consistent playmaker for Hazlehurst as this was the 3rd good game in a row from him.
Meanwhile, last game was the first rocky defensive outing for Callaway this year. It had a rough outing against Hewitt-Trussville last week, losing 65 - 28. All the same, giving senior quarterback Tyrese Winford more carries than the previous game paid off since he ran for 101 yards and punched in three touchdowns. Winford has been the ringleader for Callaway this season two times now.
Callaway's defeat dropped it to 1-2 while Hazlehurst's win brought it to 3-0. Callaway's offensive line will need to gear up for a tough test against a Hazlehurst defense that got four sacks against Crystal Springs last week. We'll see if it is up to the challenge.
