The Nickerson Panthers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 57-42 win over Larned. That looming 57-42 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Nickerson yet this season.
Nickerson found their leader in underclassman Riley Brawner, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds. That's the first time this season that Brawner scored 15 or more points. Taylor Engelland was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Nickerson's victory ended a eight-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-7. As for Larned, they bumped their record down to 2-7-1 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Nickerson will take on Kingman at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Larned won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Central Plains on January 20th.
