Isabella Higuera and Camren VanThomme made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Higuera pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, VanThomme pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off three hits. Higuera has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, Higuera went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run, while VanThomme went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI VanThomme has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Kendall Miller was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailey Gilbertson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base.
Foothill was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. They are 9-2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Desert Oasis, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Sierra Vista a 12-0 shutout on Friday.
Ali Perkins was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Perkins was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Veyda Simon, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Arabella Carlin, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Foothill pushed their record up to 11-11-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Desert Oasis, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-9-1 record this season.
Foothill's speedy runners might be the difference in Saturday's game. The Falcons have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Desert Oasis, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Foothill continue to outrun the ball?
Foothill couldn't quite finish off Desert Oasis in their previous meeting back in April and fell 10-8. Can the Falcons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
