On Friday, The Centennial Huskies faced the Murrieta Valley Nighthawks in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Centennial blew past Murrieta Valley 62-27 on the road. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-20.
Cornell Hatcher, Jr. was on fire: he rushed for 245 yards and six touchdowns on only 14 carries. Another player making a difference was Husan Longstreet, who threw for 210 yards and two touchdowns while completing 88.9% of his passes.
Despite the loss, Murrieta Valley still got an impressive performance from Bear Bachmeier, who rushed for 107 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. Bachmeier was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 60 yards.
Centennial's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Murrieta Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
Centennial does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Murrieta Valley is also done with their season.
