Basketball Recap: Skyler Mancini's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Chanhassen over Elk River

Chanhassen easily dispatched Spring Lake Park last Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Chanhassen Storm fell just short of the Elk River Elks by a score of 61-58 on Thursday. The Storm were not able to make up for their loss to the Elks from their previous meeting back in December of 2023.

Several Storm players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Skyler Mancini, who went 5 for 9 on her way to 17 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. The dominant performance gave Mancini a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Reese Keating, who posted ten points along with six assists and three steals.

Chanhassen's defeat dropped their record down to 2-1. As for Elk River, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Chanhassen didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 71-33 victory against Osseo on the 10th. As for Elk River, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 62-44 win against Becker on the 6th.
