Softball Recap: Loudoun County Finds Home Field Redemption Against Heritage

There's no place like home for Loudoun County, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Heritage Pride on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Captains, who have now won five matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Loudoun County got a great performance from Madison Karschner as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Karschner has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Sharon Manni was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Miller, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one double.

Loudoun County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Heritage only posted a batting average of .136.

Loudoun County pushed their record up to 6-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Heritage, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-4 record.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Loudoun County will host Lightridge at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bolts will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Captains surely won't give up without a fight. As for Heritage, they will challenge Stone Bridge at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Pride are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
