Southlake Carroll is 7-2 against Bell since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Dragons will be playing at home against the Blue Raiders at 7:00 p.m. Southlake Carroll is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Southlake Carroll was able to grind out a solid win over Northwest, taking the game 8-3.
Audrey Stroud looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Olivia Mccarrick, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that she hit this season. Kelli Warden was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Southlake Carroll kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 10-4 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous four contests, Bell brought some dynamite into their most recent match. They had just enough and edged out Keller Central 10-8. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Blue Raiders as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
AiAlAisA LilomAiAvA spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Reagan Bennett was incredible, going 4-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Hannah Timani, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1.
Bell's win bumped their record up to 6-13. As for Southlake Carroll, their victory bumped their record up to 16-11.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Southlake Carroll hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .370. However, it's not like Bell struggles in that department as they've averaged .320. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Southlake Carroll might still be hurting after the 17-9 defeat they got from Bell when the teams last played back in March. Can the Dragons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
