Basketball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Freeland

Freeland had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Alma Panthers with a sharp 73-51 win. With the Falcons ahead 48-25 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Freeland's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Wilson Huckeby, who went 7 for 14 on his way to 18 points in addition to seven steals and five assists. The contest was Huckeby's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristan Comer, who went 8 for 12 on his way to 16 points and eight rebounds.

Huckeby wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Freeland was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Freeland's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Alma, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Freeland will take on Swan Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Alma, they will square off against Frankenmuth at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Frankenmuth's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matches.
