Even though the Wadley Bulldogs scored an imposing 57 points on Friday, the Horseshoe Bend Generals still came out on top. Horseshoe Bend took their game against Wadley 70-57. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Horseshoe Bend also won the last time the pair played last Friday.
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jaquez Wilkes, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. Those 22 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of JaBari Burns, who scored two points along with 17 rebounds and six assists.
Even though they lost, Wadley were working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Horseshoe Bend's victory bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Wadley, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Horseshoe Bend will be home for the holidays to greet Central of Clay County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Central of Clay County will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. Wadley will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Faith Christian at 7:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024.
