The Liberty Indians's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Monticello Panthers at 5:45 p.m. on February 9th. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Last Monday, things could have been worse for Liberty, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 46-27 loss to Chester.
Meanwhile, Monticello's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fourth straight defeat. They fell to Minisink Valley 34-28. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Monticello in their matchups with Minisink Valley: they've now lost four in a row.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Isabella Velasquez, who scored 13 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Amiah Neails, who scored nine points.
Liberty's loss dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Monticello, they dropped their record down to 4-12 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Liberty suffered a grim 40-20 defeat to Monticello in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Can Liberty avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
