Baseball Recap: Andalusia Finds Home Field Redemption Against Greenville

Andalusia's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Slocomb on Monday. The Andalusia Bulldogs' pitchers stepped up to hand the Greenville Tigers a 14-0 shutout. Considering the Bulldogs have won five games by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Riley Cravey and Connor Ray made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Cravey pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Ray pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Cravey gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in March of 2024. At bat, Cravey scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1, while Ray scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. What's more, Ray posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Asher Bentley was excellent, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2. He is becoming a predictor of Andalusia's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-5-1 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Kielan Davis, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

Andalusia was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .571. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Andalusia's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-5-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Greenville, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Coming up, Andalusia will face off against Montgomery Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Montgomery Academy will roll in looking for their 11th straight victory, something Andalusia surely won't give up without a fight. As for Greenville, they will head out to square off against Highland Home at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
