Whitko is 7-2 against Southwood since May of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Wildcats will look to defend their home field against the Knights at 5:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Whitko sitting on four straight victories and Southwood on five.
Whitko's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They walked away with a 5-0 win over Lewis Cass.
Not much got past Cassidy Skinner, who gave up just four hits to keep Lewis Cass off the board.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Taylor Long, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.
Southwood came out on top against DeKalb on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run seventh inning. The Knights walked away with an 8-4 victory over the Barons.
Natalie Sutphin made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Gracie Lambert was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Izzy Ashba was another key player, going 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Southwood kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive matches.
Whitko pushed their record up to 10-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Southwood, their win bumped their record up to 9-3.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Whitko hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .321. However, it's not like Southwood struggles in that department as they've averaged .331. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Whitko came up short against Southwood in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 5-1. Will the Wildcats have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
