Cameron Mercer and Trey Huggins made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Mercer pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Huggins struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). Mercer also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Clay-Battelle is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-7 otherwise. At the plate, Mercer went 4-for-5 with two runs and two RBI, while Huggins got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs.
