Given Northwest Guilford's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 115th, while Page is ranked 367th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Page's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Lola Vanore, who scored 16 points along with four steals, and Hattie Sloyan who scored 15 points. Vanore has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Assyria Hooper, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Northwest Guilford's victory bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Page, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northwest Guilford will take on Ragsdale at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Ragsdale is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. As for Page, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Northern Guilford at 6:30 p.m. on January 19th. Northern Guilford is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games.
