Summerville moved up to 357 from 415 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Mother Lode. The Bears climbed the ranks as a result of a 49-12 win over Brookside Christian.
Summerville extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Knights, 49-12. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Calaveras's dynamic duo of Zack Johnson and Kellen Hodgson proved tough for Lodi to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Johnson threw for 120 yards and one touchdown and Hodgson had 61 yards receiving. Mike Seawell helped Calaveras' passing attack out by catching one ball for 32 yards.
Joey Brocchini made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Bears beat Brookside Christian. The 5-foot-11 senior grabbed one interception.
Tanner Krieg was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 17 carries, he ran for 207 yards as Summerville defeated the Flames. Brocchini also contributed to the rushing game with 51 yards on the ground.
Calaveras' Johnson and Seawell have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Mother Lode in both passing and receiving yards. Johnson has thrown for 708 yards this season, while Seawell has 14 catches for 265 yards. Krieg from the Bears leads the league in rushing with 684 yards.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when Summerville takes on Bret Harte. The Bears' offense has scored 204 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while the Bullfrogs have allowed only 173 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Jason Weatherby's team takes on Amador. The Redskins are in fourth place, while the Buffaloes are in third place.
Amador took down Big Valley Christian 39-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
