The Miami Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the McLean Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Miami knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight games -- so hopefully McLean likes a good challenge.
Last Friday, Miami faced Follett in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Miami managed a 36-30 victory over Follett.
Haiden Thompson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 119 yards while picking up 7.4 yards per carry, and also throwing for 153 yards and three touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes. Thompson is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. Luke Wheeler was in the mix too, providing Miami with two touchdowns.
McLean never got on the board in their matchup on October 6th, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against White Deer last Thursday. They took down the Bucks 32-15.
Jack Magee had a dynamite game for McLean, rushing for 156 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries, while also throwing for 97 yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Caleb Steward, who picked up 97 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Miami's victory was their eighth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 2-6 Nazareth and 2-6 Wildorado (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 36% over those games). As for McLean, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.
Keep an eye on the end zone in Friday's game as the two teams haven't had much trouble getting there this season. Miami commands a daunting offense this season, having averaged 7.4 touchdowns per game. However, it's not like McLean struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.9 per game. With these two high-octane teams facing off on Friday, fans should be in for an exciting offensive matchup.
Miami came out on top in a nail-biter against McLean when the teams last played back in October of 2022, sneaking past 40-38. The rematch might be a little tougher for Miami since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
