The Gainesville Cardinals's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 73-38 loss at the hands of Patriot. Gainesville has struggled against Patriot recently, as their contest on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Among those leading the charge was Teyvien Barbour, who scored 24 points along with five rebounds. Mekhi Dillard was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Gainesville's loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-3. As for Patriot, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Gainesville will be playing in front of their home fans against Battlefield at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Battlefield will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 207th, while Gainesville is ranked 75th). Patriot won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Stone Bridge at 5:30 p.m. on December 9th. Hopefully Stone Bridge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday.
