Basketball Game Preview: Box Elder Bees vs. Woods Cross Wildcats

The Box Elder Bees will venture away from home to take on the Woods Cross Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Box Elder is looking for their season's first victory.

Box Elder is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Bountiful on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Box Elder came up short against Bountiful, falling 85-63. While losing is never fun, the Bees can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 126th, while the RedHawks are ranked 14th).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Mayson Jeppsen, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards. He has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Gunner Gunderson, who posted 11 points.

Meanwhile, Woods Cross suffered their closest defeat since December 1, 2023 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Bonneville by a score of 45-43. While the Wildcats didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Lakers 13-7 in the first quarter.

Box Elder's loss dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Woods Cross, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-5.

Box Elder came up short against Woods Cross in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, falling 65-58. Can Box Elder avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
