Lebanon is 2-8 against Honaker since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Lebanon Pioneers' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Honaker Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on January 24th. Lebanon will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 334th, while Honaker is ranked 65th).
Lebanon suffered their biggest loss since November 28, 2023 on January 9th. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 57-32 walloping at the hands of Marion.
Meanwhile, Honaker had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.5 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They breezed by Rural Retreat on the road to the tune of 52-23. Honaker has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 23 points or more this season.
Honaker's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alayna McNulty, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds. McNulty hasn't dropped below 15points for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Carey Keene, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Lebanon's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Honaker, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.
Lebanon was taken down by Honaker 65-11 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of McNulty, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds.
