The Odyssey Institute Minotaur's's game last Friday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 28-14 victory over River Valley. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Odyssey Institute also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2017.
Odyssey Institute's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Toy Landers, who rushed for 130 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries. Landers' longest rush was for an incredible 72 yards. Deiontae L tyson did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 122 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Despite the loss, River Valley still got an impressive performance from Jayden Plotkin, who rushed for 159 yards and two touchdowns. Plotkin is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last seven games he's played.
Odyssey Institute is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. As for River Valley, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Odyssey Institute will square off against Dysart at 7:00 p.m. on October 21st. Dysart will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for River Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against Mohave at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mohave presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than River Valley in Arizona (Mohave is ranked 29th, while River Valley is ranked 108th).
