Basketball Recap: Pinecrest Prep Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Pinecrest Prep entered their tilt with Palm Glades Prep Academy on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They strolled past the Palm Glades Prep Academy Eagles with points to spare, taking the game 71-54. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 58-47 back in December of 2024.

Pinecrest Prep's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aaron Castellon led the charge by as he made all 6 shots he took to post 14 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Those 14 points gave Castellon a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gabriel Guzman, who went 5 of 9 en route to 16 points and three steals.

Castellon wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Pinecrest Prep was working as a unit and finished the game with 25 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Pinecrest Prep is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 8-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.2 points per game. As for Palm Glades Prep Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.

The future could be bright for both Pinecrest Prep and Palm Glades Prep Academy: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Pinecrest Prep will look to extend JC Bermudez Doral's four-game losing streak when the meet at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Palm Glades Prep Academy will try to hand Marathon their third-straight defeat when the two meet at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
