San Miguel is 0-3 against Empire since December of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The San Miguel Vipers will head out on the road to face off against the Empire Ravens at 7:00 p.m. San Miguel is hoping to put an end to a 12-game streak of away losses.
San Miguel suffered their biggest defeat since November 28, 2023 on Tuesday. They were dealt a 85-42 defeat at the hands of Palo Verde. While losing is never fun, San Miguel can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 329th, while Palo Verde is ranked 115th).
Empire can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They pulled ahead with a 76-75 photo finish over Sabino. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Empire to victory, but perhaps none more so than Khari Gurley, who scored 20 points. Donovan Davidson was another key contributor, scoring 22 points.
San Miguel's defeat dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Empire, their victory bumped their record up to 14-10.
San Miguel might still be hurting after the 65-41 loss they got from Empire in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Can San Miguel avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
