The Alvin Yellowjackets can finally bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They secured a 54-50 W over Alief Hastings. This was payback for Alvin, who suffered a 52-32 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Several Bears players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Amari Wilkerson, who scored 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Wembo Fernandes, who scored ten points.
Alvin's victory ended a 20-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 9-16. As for Alief Hastings, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-16.
Alvin will challenge Dawson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Dawson presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Alvin in Texas (Dawson is ranked 58th, while Alvin is ranked 826th). As for Alief Hastings, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Pearland at 7:00 p.m.
