Sundown has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Ropes Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Sundown focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Sundown was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 50-44 to Plains.
Sundown might have lost, but man, Allie McCormick was a machine: she dropped a double-double on 29 points and 11 steals. McCormick also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Yaya Lopez was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five steals.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Ropes' good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They lost to New Home on the road by a decisive 53-38 margin. Ropes has struggled against New Home recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Sundown's loss dropped their record down to 14-12. As for Ropes, their loss dropped their record down to 17-7.
Sundown beat Ropes 52-44 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sundown since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
