The Orangeburg-Wilkinson Bruins were the 56-53 winner over the Lower Richland Diamond Hornets when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Orangeburg-Wilkinson received a tough blow on Friday as they fell 45-31 to Lower Richland. It was the first time this season that Orangeburg-Wilkinson let down their fans at home.
Several Bruins players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jordan McGahee, who scored seven points. Another player making a difference was Keith Smith, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Orangeburg-Wilkinson's defeat ended a 17-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-5. As for Lower Richland, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-5.
Orangeburg-Wilkinson will head out on the road to take on Gilbert at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Gilbert will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 226th, while Orangeburg-Wilkinson is ranked 35th). As for Lower Richland, they will be playing at home against Dreher at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
