This season hasn't been kind to the Unity Reed Lions, who are still winless after their fifth game. The game between Unity Reed and Park View wasn't particularly close, with Unity Reed falling 58-41. While losing is never fun, Unity Reed can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 376th, while Park View is ranked 173rd).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Park View to victory, but perhaps none more so than Anna Helstrom, who scored 15 points along with eight assists and six rebounds. The contest was Helstrom's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyra Hurley, who scored 14 points along with six steals and five rebounds.
Unity Reed bumped their record down to 0-5 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.8 points per game. As for Park View, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.
Unity Reed will head out on the road to face off against Osbourn Park at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Park View will be home for the holidays to greet Independence at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
