The Davenport Broncos will play host again and welcome the Mater Brighton Lakes Academy Broncos, where tip off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Davenport will be strutting in after a win while Mater Brighton Lakes Academy will be coming in after a defeat.
Even though Davenport has not done well against Lake Wales recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Davenport managed a 48-42 win over Lake Wales. The win was just what Davenport needed coming off of a 74-43 defeat in their prior match.
It was another big night for Sorayah Emilien, who scored 22 points. That makes it six consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Davenport's points. Another player making a difference was Destiny Kim, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Mater Brighton Lakes Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their ninth straight loss. They were outmatched by Haines City on the road and fell 64-13. While losing is never fun, Mater Brighton Lakes Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 631st, while Haines City is ranked 69th).
Davenport's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Mater Brighton Lakes Academy, they bumped their record down to 1-11 with that loss, which was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season.
