One thing working in Millington Central's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games.
Even though Jackson Central Merry scored an imposing 57 points on Tuesday, Millington Central still came out on top. Millington Central walked away with a 69-57 victory over Jackson Central Merry. Given Millington Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while Jackson Central Merry is ranked 329th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Brandon Payne, who scored 23 points. The matchup was his eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Tayshaun Dye, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, Gibson County had to suffer through a rough 80-37 loss at the hands of Trinity Christian Academy. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Gibson County has scored all season.
Millington Central's victory bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Gibson County, they bumped their record down to 4-4 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road.
