Softball Recap: Hanks Has No Trouble Against Ysleta

Hanks made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Ysleta, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Hanks Knights were the clear victor by a 12-1 margin over the Ysleta Indians on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won ten matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Dreana Ballesteros and Audrey Melendez did most of the damage at the plate: Ballesteros scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2, while Melendez scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Those two stolen bases gave Ballesteros a new career-high. Amberly Mercado was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Hanks hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in 13 consecutive games.

Hanks' record is now 11-4-1. As for Ysleta, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8-1 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hanks will square off against Montwood at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Montwood will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Hanks surely won't give up without a fight. As for Ysleta, they will take on Mayfield at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
