The Cimarron Trailblazers suffered their biggest defeat since November 7, 2023 on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 67-29 loss at the hands of Covington-Douglas. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Cimarron in their matchups with Covington-Douglas: they've now lost seven in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Covington-Douglas to victory, but perhaps none more so than Derrek Daugherty, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Daugherty has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last five times he's played. Miguel Tarango was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with three steals.
Cimarron has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season. As for Covington-Douglas, the win got them back to even at 7-7.
Cimarron will head out on the road to square off against Drummond at 11:45 a.m. on Thursday. Drummond presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Cimarron in Oklahoma (Drummond is ranked 67th, while Cimarron is ranked 468th). As for Covington-Douglas, they will be playing at home against Okeene at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Okeene is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
