In what's become a running theme this season, the Northwestern Bulls gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They blew past Plantation 74-45 on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Northwestern has posted since December 21, 2023.
Northwestern found their leader in underclassman Calvin Russel, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 16 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Russel has scored at least a third of Northwestern's points. Giovanny Desire was another key contributor, scoring 18 points.
When it comes to explaining why Plantation lost, one person who can't be blamed is Daterrius Heller. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jabari Washington, who scored ten points.
Northwestern's victory bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Plantation, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northwestern on the road again on Tuesday and play against Norland at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Norland has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 178 points over their last three contests. As for Plantation, they will head out on the road to take on Everglades at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Everglades is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.
