The Bovina Mustangs's game last Tuesday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They blew past Boys Ranch 60-30 on the road. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 36-9.
Bovina's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Yandel Deleon, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Deleon has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Daniel Herrera, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Bovina's win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 9-13. As for Boys Ranch, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.
Bovina will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Vega at 8:00 p.m. As for Boys Ranch, they will head out on the road to square off against Farwell at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Farwell has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
