St. Mary Catholic Central moved up to 88 from 123 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Huron. The Falcons/Kestrels climbed the ranks as a result of defeating Michigan Collegiate 42-12.
Milan extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Airport, 14-7. The victory was the 10th in a row for the team.
Grosse Ile's dynamic duo of Andrew Mitroka and Jordan Nellenbach proved tough for Chandler Park Academy to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Mitroka threw for 46 yards and one touchdown and Nellenbach had 26 yards receiving. Danny McCarty helped Grosse Ile's passing attack out by catching one ball for 20 yards.
Robert Kanitz was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 26 carries, he ran for 177 yards as Milan beat the Eagles. Teammate Arthur Dukes III added to the ground attack by rushing for 85 yards.
Thanks to the talents of Justin Aceves and Dukes III Jesse Hoskins' team has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Aceves leads the league in passing with 875 yards, while Dukes III has rushed for 1558 yards this season. Huron's DEMARCUS BUNN leads the league in receiving yards with 376 on 17 catches.
The Big Reds' Kanitz is a mere seven yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. Kanitz has rushed for 993 yards on 141 carries so far this year.
St. Mary Catholic Central took down the Cougars 42-12 last week, the largest margin of any game.
