The Erie-Prophetstown Panthers will challenge the Oregon Hawks at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Erie-Prophetstown will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
Last Monday, Erie-Prophetstown got the win against Mendota by a conclusive 12-1.
Wynn Renkes was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Erie-Prophetstown got a massive performance out of Lillian McWilliams, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most hits McWilliams has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Alyssah Padia, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Erie-Prophetstown kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are 9-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Saturday just wasn't the day for Oregon's offense. They fell 5-0 to Morrison on Saturday. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Hawks' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Erie-Prophetstown pushed their record up to 14-9 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Oregon, their defeat dropped their record down to 22-12.
Both Erie-Prophetstown and Oregon just can't seem to miss. The Panthers have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Oregon struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.7 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Erie-Prophetstown couldn't quite finish off Oregon in their previous matchup back in June of 2021 and fell 2-0. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
