The Rochester Zebras will head out on the road to square off against the Lewis Cass Kings at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Rochester will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
On Monday, Rochester needed a bit of extra time to put away Whitko. They won by a run and slipped past the Wildcats 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Zebras have posted since April 23rd.
Bria Rensberger spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up 12 Ks.
On the hitting side, Brailyn Hunter was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April.
Meanwhile, Lewis Cass made easy work of Wabash on Monday and carried off a 10-1 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Kings.
The team relied heavily on Hannah Penn, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Kylie Logan was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one double.
Lewis Cass was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Rochester's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Lewis Cass, their record now sits at 8-11.
Wednesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Rochester hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .380. However, it's not like Lewis Cass struggles in that department as they've averaged .326. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Rochester skirted past Lewis Cass 3-2 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Zebras since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
