At the plate, Mahwah got a massive performance out of Alex Luchynskyi, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Luchynskyi a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jake Buonanno, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
Mahwah kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Dwight-Englewood). Everything went their way against Tenafly on Thursday as they made off with a 21-5 win. With that victory, the Bulldogs brought their scoring average up to 6.7 runs per game.
Jason Lee looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.
On the hitting side, Matthew Civan was a standout: he got on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Fisher, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
Dwight-Englewood has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Mahwah, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.
Mahwah might still be hurting after the 12-3 loss they got from Dwight-Englewood in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Thunderbirds have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
