The Bay Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They lost to Moss Point at home by a decisive 38-23 margin. Bay was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Moss Point apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Moss Point's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alejandro Montalvo, who scored 11 points along with four steals. Montalvo has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Kevon Ford was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with two steals.
Bay bumped their record down to 4-16 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.3 points per game. As for Moss Point, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-10 record this season.
Bay will head out on the road to challenge McComb at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. McComb presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Bay in Mississippi (McComb is ranked 89th, while Bay is ranked 249th). As for Moss Point, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Greene County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Greene County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Friday.
