After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Liberal, the Sheldon Panthers were happy to have found some success on Thursday. They walked away with a 45-32 victory over Jefferson Independent Day. That's another feather in the cap for Sheldon, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Sheldon found their leader in underclassman Aiden Bogart, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 15 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bogart has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Aiden Ellifrits, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and six assists.
Jefferson Independent Day lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kohl Thurman, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds. Ethan Renger was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with eight rebounds.
Jefferson Independent Day struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Sheldon pulled down 13 offensive rebounds.
Sheldon's victory bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Jefferson Independent Day, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13.
Sheldon won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Northeast at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th. Jefferson Independent Day's road trip will continue as they head out to face Pierce City at 6:45 p.m. on January 19th.
