Brayden Richardson made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.
Richardson wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kagan Hewett, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1. That stolen base marked the first that Hewett snagged this season. Another was Tywan Williamson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, everything went Williston's way against Bradford on Thursday as Williston made off with a 17-8 win.
The team relied heavily on Blake Martin, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, four runs, and five RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Breeden Clemenzi, who scored four runs and stole Four bases. while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances.
Lafayette pushed their record up to 9-2 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Williston, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.
Williston's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Lafayette has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.4 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Williston, though, as they've been averaging only 4.1 strikeouts. Will Lafayette keep running through batters, or will Williston buck the trend?
Lafayette skirted past Williston 4-3 in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Does Lafayette have another victory up their sleeve, or will Williston turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
