The Marshall Barristers are taking a road trip to challenge the Arleta Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Marshall is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.
Marshall is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past USC-MAE 18-1 last Monday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Barristers.
Alyana Mendoza made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Mendoza was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Jolie Evans was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Elaine Reynoso, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Marshall always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .632. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Canyon hit Arleta with a five-run fifth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Mustangs came up short against the Cowboys, falling 15-5. The Mustangs just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.
The victory got Marshall back to even at 2-2. As for Arleta, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Marshall has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Arleta struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Marshall came out on top in a nail-biter against Arleta when the teams last played back in March of 2025, sneaking past 9-7. Do the Barristers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mustangs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
