Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Newtown, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Bunnell with a sharp 3-0 victory on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Nighthawks in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won three in a row.
The match finished with set scores of 25-8, 25-9, 25-18.
Woodstock Academy better focus on containing Kade Deraney and Sam Irving as the pair were huge in Newtown's win. Deraney had 28 assists and four digs, while Irving had six digs. With that strong performance, Deraney is now averaging an impressive 12.2 assists per game.
Newtown was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 15 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in May of 2024.
