The Red Springs Red Devils lost against the Midway Raiders back in September of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Red Springs took a 26-12 bruising from Midway. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Red Springs in their matchups with Midway: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the loss, Red Springs had strong showings from Taquan (TJ) Ellerbe, who rushed for 66 yards and a touchdown, and Jakelsin Mack, who rushed for 102 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries.
Midway can attribute much of their success to Cody Ammons, who rushed for 145 yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Tripp Westbrook, who threw for 105 yards and two touchdowns.
Red Springs now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Midway, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Red Springs will stay at home for another week and welcome West Bladen at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. West Bladen is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak. As for Midway, they will be playing at home against St. Pauls at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
