Dunseith has a chance to get its first conference win this week when it squares off against North Star/Starkweather on Friday at 7:00 PM. Neither team wants a repeat from last game, where each was handed a considerable defeat.
Dunseith has to be hurting after the devastating 45 - 20 loss at the hands of Benson County [Leeds/Maddock] last game.
As for North Star/Starkweather, the result of its previous contest was disheartening but, based on national rankings, not too surprising. It simply didn't have it last week, losing 58 - 8 to North Prairie co-op [Rolette/Wolford/Rolla]. Junior tight end Caleb Clay didn't go down without a fight, though. He put up some defensive resistance with 13 tackles. Clay has been the ringleader for North Star/Starkweather this season two times now.
After their losses, North Star/Starkweather dropped to 2-3 and Dunseith dropped to 1-3. Both North Star/Starkweather and Dunseith have been struggling on the defensive side of the ball (the former allowing an average of 30 points per game, the latter an average of 39.25 points per game). We'll find out which offense can take advantage of this fact when the two teams meet this week.
