The DeMotte Christian Knights waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with two straight wins but they left with three. They came out on top against Wheeler by a score of 49-36. For DeMotte Christian, this counts as revenge for the 51-49 loss Wheeler walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
DeMotte Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tony Bos out in front who scored seven points along with six rebounds and three steals. Luke Terpstra was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds.
Several Bearcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Marek Barton, who scored six points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Tyne Vettickal, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and three steals.
DeMotte Christian has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season. As for Wheeler, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.
DeMotte Christian will be playing at home against South Newton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. South Newton has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. Wheeler will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Calumet New Tech at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th. Hopefully Calumet New Tech focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Monday.
