The La Junta Tigers had to endure an eight-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 32-24 win over Pueblo Central on Saturday. For La Junta, this counts as revenge for the 30-21 loss the Wildcats walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.
La Junta was led to victory by Brooklyn Lovato and Isabelle Aragon. Lovato scored 11 points, while Aragon scored six points along with 12 rebounds and three blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lovato has scored all season.
Despite the defeat, Pueblo Central had strong showings from Rosalia Martinez, who scored nine points, and Emeri Whiting, who scored seven points.
La Junta's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-15. As for Pueblo Central, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost eight of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.
La Junta will be playing at home against the Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pueblo Central, they and the Hornets will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Pueblo County will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
