After a string of five wins, The Gonzales Spartans''s good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They were the victim of a tough 40-14 loss at the hands of Stevenson. Gonzales was down 28-7 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
When it comes to explaining why Gonzales lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ely Cisneros. Despite the final result, he rushed for 74 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries.
Gonzales' defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Stevenson, their victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 5-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gonzales will take on Greenfield at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Greenfield will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. As for Stevenson, they will be playing at home against Harbor at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Harbor focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five on Saturday.
