Calandria Montoya was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs and two stolen bases. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Bernalillo let Kylee Herrera and Bella Perez run wild. Herrera got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and three runs, while Perez went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two doubles. Herrera continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Neiva Montoya, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

The Spartans are facing the Knights at the right time seeing as the Knights are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Hope Christian, they will head out on the road to challenge Albuquerque Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Chargers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.94 runs per game on average), something the Huskies will no doubt try to take advantage of.
