The Springfield Millers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Willamette Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Springfield is not getting complacent, as they come into the match much higher ranked than Willamette in Oregon (Springfield is ranked 38th, while Willamette is ranked 134th).
Last Friday, Springfield earned a 21-8 victory over Churchill. The victory was just what Springfield needed coming off of a 34-14 loss in their prior matchup.
Connor Dye had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 294 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.9 yards per carry. Dye was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 59 yards.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Willamette, who are still winless after their sixth game. They were beaten by Crater 42-14 two Fridays ago.
Springfield has been no stranger to the win column this season, as they've started out with wins in five of their first six contests, giving them a 5-1 record. As for Willamette, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-6.
Springfield beat Willamette 42-34 when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Will Springfield repeat their success, or does Willamette have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
